Gwendolyn G. Powers

FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Gwendolyn Guinn Powers, 81, of 4857 Fogarty Drive, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011, in her residence. Graveside services will be held today, Friday, June 3, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street with Pastor John Blackman Jr. officiating. The family will receive calls at the home. Mrs. Powers was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Guinn; two sisters, Frances Johnson and Bea Humphries; and a great-grandson, Dustin Adcock. She is survived by her husband, Paul N. Powers Sr. of Fayetteville; daughter, Paula Crumbley and husband Larry of Fayetteville; son, Paul "Buddy" Powers Jr. and wife JoAnn of Vale; brother, Edward Guinn of Beaumont, Texas; two grandchildren, Traci Core and husband Alan, and Chris Stines and wife Nicole; and two great-grandchilden, Bladen Core and Brandon Stines. She is also survived by her beloved sisters-in-law, Bea Drugan and Joyce P. Powers; devoted niece, Anita Hopkins; and devoted and loving caretaker, Cynthia Mace. The family is grateful for all services and care that Cape Fear Valley Hospice provided for our mother. Services are entrusted to Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service & Crematory of Fayetteville.
