Gwendolyn Irene Wilson

Gwendolyn Irene Wilson, born on September 10, 1959, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, in Chesapeake, Virginia. She was 66 years old.

Gwendolyn dedicated her life to her family, friends, and community. For 29 years, she was a beloved bus driver for Chesapeake Public Schools, where she touched the lives of countless children with her warm spirit and unwavering dedication.

Her passions were as vibrant as her personality. Gwendolyn had an adventurous soul, delighting in activities such as fishing, ziplining, and riding motorcycles. She was known for her zest for life and belief in "living large." Above all, comforting her friends was her specialty, and many sought solace in her reassuring presence.

She was actively involved in her community through her volunteer work with Christian Action and the Chesapeake Jaycees. Additionally, she cherished her time with the Chesapeake Jaycees and participated in the Triple R Ranch special equestrians.

Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Ed and Irene Sylvester. She leaves behind a loving family, including her devoted husband, Gary Wilson, her children Erin Filkins, April Phelps, and Kam Phelps, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

A service to celebrate Gwendolyn's life will be held at Unity Free Will Baptist, located at 360 East Hickory Rd., Chesapeake, VA 23322, on Saturday, December 20, at 12:00 pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to Oman Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 653 Cedar Rd., Chesapeake, VA 23322.

Gwendolyn's legacy of love, adventure, and compassion will be carried forward by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
