Gwenlyn M. Snyder, of Warsaw, passed away at Cedar Creek Assisted Living on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born on August 10, 1934, to Leo Merl Gawthrop and Erma Ellen Bowman on a farm north of North Webster, IN that is now the headquarters for the Game Preserve.
She attended Syracuse School system through 10th grade but graduated from North Webster in 1952.
On September 19, 1952, Gwen married Louis Lowell Snyder in Warsaw. He passed away on October 6, 2012. They were married for over 60 years. During their marriage, Louis was a home builder/developer and built 33 single family homes while Gwen was the bookkeeper and assistant for him.
Gwen got a job working in the Auditor's Office in the courthouse in Kosciusko County on September 22, 1952, and worked there holding several different deputy positions including First Deputy, until December 1964.
Gwen babysat kindergartners from Lincoln School from 1964-1968 and then began working in the Accounting Department at RR Donnelley in 1968 until her retirement in December 1998. She helped with the Nifty Fifty Plus Club in 2001 and maintained records and produced the monthly newsletters starting in 2003, sending out approximately 300 copies each month.
Gwen studied the Bible with the Shepherd's Chapel for one hour five days a week, studying verse by verse starting in 1998. She went through all the books of the Bible several times, but her favorite Bible verse was the 23rd Psalm.
Gwen is survived by her children, Kevin and Randal (Lora) Snyder; grandchildren, Joshua Sweatland, Jacob Sweatland, Nicole Snyder and Jessica Snyder; along with great grandchildren, Jack Sweatland, Judah Sweatland, Madelyn Sweatland and Kenedee Sweatland. She is further survived by her half-sister, Betty Becknell, stepbrother Phillip Nine and stepsister, Nancy Morgano. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Linda Sweatland, sisters Marilyn Ebert and Joyce Boyer, half-brother, Russell Gawthrop, and stepsister, Joyce Nine.
Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2000 Sheridan Street, Warsaw, IN 46580 is entrusted with Gwen’s care. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm. At 1, the funeral service will begin.
