Haleta K. Otte, passed away Monday morning, February 5, 2024 at Lakehouse in Sheboygan. She was one day shy of 90 years old.
Haleta was born February 6, 1934 in the Town of Alto in Fond du Lac County, the daughter of John and Winnie (Searvogel) Riel. She graduated from Waupun High School in 1951.
On October 9, 1953, she was united in marriage with Clifford Otte in Waupun. The couple celebrated their 70th anniversary last fall, filled with countless cherished memories.
A legal secretary, Haleta worked for Rutgers Law Office for 15 years, retiring in 1994. Previously, she had worked for Northrup & VandeZande Law Office in Waupun.
A longtime member of First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls, Haleta belonged to the Dorcas Circle, was a youth group leader and a founding member of the Keenagers. She was a member of the Sheboygan County Farm Bureau, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, reading, cooking, crossword puzzles, playing cards, and time spent with family.
Haleta is survived by her husband Clifford and their children: Barbara (Brian) Stine of Plymouth, Gregory (Linda) Otte of Malone, Timothy (LuAnn) Otte of White Bear Lake, MN, Bruce (Kathy) Otte of Plymouth, Brian (Gail) Otte of Lyndon Station and Charles (Tiffany) Otte of Sheboygan Falls. She is further survived by grandchildren: Erin (Justin) Otte-Meyer, Rachel (Kyle) Wells, Adrianna (Mike) DeBoer, Kali (Daniel) Lazan, Michael (Kelly) Otte, Jonathan (Bekah) Otte, Jacob (Amanda) Otte, Katlyn (Chad) Herrmann, Brandon (Molly) Otte, Brianne (Simeon) VandeZande, Will Otte (fiancé Zoe Folstom) and Clark Otte (Clare McCabe); great-grandchildren: Morgan, Timothy, James, Henry, Eliana, Magdalena, Madelyn, Caleb, Stella, Sebastian, Breanna, Lacey, Mason, Grace, Benjamin, Joseph, Thomas, Isaac, Ella, Abigail, Sawyer, Nora, Charlie, Jack, Jonah, Zoey, Lucas and Isaak; sisters-in-law Joyce Riel, Fran Riel, Edna Mae (Walter) Wenhold and Gloria (Larry) Opgenorth; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: James (Alice), Clarence, Garret (Johanna), Marvin, Walter (Catherine) and Wilbert Riel; sisters: Janet (Peter) Streekstra, Katherine Riel, Johanna (Ken) VerStraate and Angeline (Orville) Abel.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00PM noon on Friday, February 9, 2024 at First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls. All are welcome to view a livestream of the service on Haleta’s obituary page at www.wenigfh.com . The family will receive visitors at the church on Friday from 9:30AM-11:45AM.
She will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery.
