Hampton Dickerson

Hampton Dickerson was born on August 2, 1961, in Paterson, New Jersey. He was the beloved son of the late Timothy and Thomasina Dickerson.
He attended Public School No. 4 in Paterson, graduating in 1975, and went on to graduate from John F. Kennedy High School, Class of 1979.
From a young age, Hamp was known for his charisma, sense of style, and his gift of music. He could often be found singing, stepping, and dancing with a smile that lit up every room.
Music was Hamp's passion and life's calling. He traveled the world as a member of the groups Image of Truth and Touch of Class, creating lifelong brotherhood with his fellow musicians. His powerful voice and magnetic stage presence left lasting impressions wherever he performed.
Beyond the spotlight, Hamp remained deeply rooted in family and community. He cherished holidays and family gatherings, always emphasizing the importance of love, togetherness, and unity. He adored his mother and treasured his role as a father and grandfather, holding a special bond with his grandson, King.
Professionally, Hamp worked for Sun Chemical in Paterson, New Jersey, for many years and later with Premier Security in Secaucus, New Jersey. His dedication, strong work ethic, and genuine spirit made him respected by colleagues and friends alike.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Timothy and Thomasina Dickerson.
Hampton peacefully departed this life on Monday, October 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family in Paterson, New Jersey.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Travis Dickerson; his cherished grandson, King Rojas-Dickerson; his devoted brother, Alfonso Dickerson (Dawn); and his loving sisters, Sheree Dickerson- Kelly (Marvin) and Zynovia Dickerson Wyche (Michael). He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends, and his brothers in music, who stood by him until the very end. Though his later years were marked by illness and challenges, Hampton's legacy is defined not by his struggles, but by the joy, laughter, and music he gave to the world. His voice, his spirit, and his love for family will never be forgotten.
