Hanif A. Brookes

Our beloved Hanif A. Brookes passed away unexpectedly on November 14, 2025 at the age of 44. He was born in Basseterre, St. Kitts on January 23, 1981 to parents Marlene Webbe and Terrence Brookes. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 10 and has lived in Bronx, NY until his passing. Hanif was born with a sweet and kind soul, a big heart and was always a joy to be around. His caring spirit with a generous heart was felt by anyone he came into contact with. He was a shining example of how to think of others with the capacity to bring joy to those around him. Our family was not expecting for his life to be cut so short so soon. We are all devastated by this huge loss and he will be forever missed.

Hanif was an adventurer who lived boldly, collecting passport stamps and memories. Travel was not just something he did but was a part of who he was. He journeyed across continents, cultures and beaches. Hanif surrounded himself with friends who became his chosen family. He had a gift for truly showing up for the people he loved. Whether it was a birthday, family barbeque, or the smallest gathering, you can always count on him to be there with a smile, and some Tupperware. His steady presence made every event feel brighter and every celebration a little fuller. He was a dedicated worker who was not only respected but cherished for his warmth, and willingness to lend a helping hand to his coworkers who became his second family. He was a source of inspiration and encouraged them to step outside of their comfort zone. His absence will be deeply felt by all who worked alongside him.

Hanif is survived by his mother Marlene Webbe, brother Travis Brookes, uncle James Johnson, Dudley Brookes, aunt Rosalind Richardson, Lavida Riddick, Janice Richardson, cousins Angel Richardson, Latonia Sistrunk, Sika Andre, Kaufi Andre, Akpene Andre, Keisha Henry, Maniiya White, Anthony Brookes, Kashif Brookes, Nora Richardson, Kevin Richardson, Camille Simpson. Hanif is predeceased by his father Terrence Brookes, aunt Sylvanita Brooks, uncle Vance Brookes.

As we say goodbye may we take comfort and cherish the memories of the love laughter and warmth that Hanif has bought into our lives. Though his travels on earth has ended his spirit continues its journey in all of us who loved him. Rest in everlasting peace on the most beautiful beach with the ocean at your feet.
