Hannelore “Lori” Meier, 93, of Sheboygan, passed away Wednesday morning, April 24, 2024, at Pine Haven Christian Communities – Haven Drive.
Lori was born on July 6, 1930, to Johann and Elfriede (Tiedje) Rachow in Nordhastedt, Germany. The youngest of three children, Lori was a farm girl at heart and learned her exceptional homemaker skills from her mom. In her free time as a young girl, she learned to play the accordion and continued to do so late in her life.
While visiting from Germany, Lori met the love of her life, Alfred Meier, who was living in Sheboygan with relatives at the time. They later reunited in Germany and returned to Sheboygan to begin their 65-year marriage. Lori supported her husband as he provided well for their family.
Al and Lori enjoyed a wonderful 28-year retirement together, spending many winters in Florida and summers with their grandchildren. They were lifelong members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Lori was a fabulous baker, loving to bake what the people she loved enjoyed the most; no one left her table hungry. She loved gardening, feeding birds, sewing, and crocheting. More than anything, she loved being Oma and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Lori is survived by her children, Al (Melissa Phelan) Meier of Merrimack, NH and Connie (Gregg Holstein) Meier; her four grandchildren, Jennifer Meier of Aurora, CO, Jonathan (Meghan) Meier of Littleton, CO, Matt (Dani) Bauer of Appleton, and Kristin (Luis) Allen of Wesley Chapel, FL; great-grandchildren, Paxton and Amelia Meier, Liam, Maverick, and Trevor Allen.
Lori was preceded in death by her husband Al, her parents, parents-in-law, Alfred and Luise (Maug) Meier, sister Mia (Heinrich) Lausen, brother, Walter (Agnes) Rachow, sister-in-law, Deaconess Luise Meier.
