Hans Moser Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones-Wynn Funeral Home and Crematory - Douglas Chapel on Nov. 4, 2025.
Hans Gunther Moser, 96, of Douglasville, GA, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025. He was born in Hamburg, Germany on July 27, 1929, the son of the late Roman Moser and the late Maria Lobpreis Moser.
He leaves behind a legacy marked by strength, determination, and unwavering faith.
A Tool and Die Maker, Hans devoted his life to his work, showcasing not only his skills but also the meticulous nature that he brought to every project. His journey to the United States was remarkable; during the ship ride that carried him across the ocean, he learned English, demonstrating his resilience and eagerness to adapt to a new life.
Hans' character was defined by his steadfastness and courage. These traits shone brightly during his service as a U. S. Marine, where he made history as the third native German to be admitted into the U.S. Marines. His military career was punctuated by an experience that forever marked his life: he endured being a prisoner of war in a Russian prison camp during World War II at the age of 16. Enduring two years of captivity, Hans faced unimaginable challenges, yet he remained determined to survive, embodying a spirit that inspired those around him. After his release from the prison camp, he walked back from Siberia to Linz Austria.
His strong faith guided him through both trials and triumphs, allowing him to cultivate a positive outlook on life despite the adversities he encountered. Hans was a man deeply committed to his beliefs, which served as a foundation throughout his life.
As friends and colleagues remember Hans, they will reflect on a man who was not only skilled in his trade but also a compassionate individual who touched the lives of many with his kindness and resolve. He navigated life with a steadfast heart, leaving an indelible mark wherever he went.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Gisella Froh.
He is survived by his loving wife of seventy-two years of marriage, Mary Gold Moser; daughters, Linda (Darden) Hamilton of Villa Rica, GA, Diana (Jesse Loftis of Godfrey, IL and Karin Adams of Douglasville, GA; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Rhonda) Adams, Stephen Adams, Samuel (Candace) Adams, Christopher Hamilton, Elijah (Stacey) Hamilton, Jason (Sadaf) Loftis, Jeremy (Stephanie) Loftis, and Amy Loftis; and eighteen great grandchildren, Jacob Adams, Gabriella Adams, Sophie Adams, Walker Adams, Ethan Adams, MacKenzie Keen, Willow Adams, Cody Loftis, Cameron Loftis, Caitlyn Loftis, Serenity Loftis, Reyna Loftis, Brantley Loftis, Peyton Krohn, Julianna Snell, Taylor Hamilton, TJ McClarty, and Hannah McClarty; and two great great grandchildren, Ivy Besenger, and Dayan Loftis.
The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Douglas Chapel.

To the family of Hans (John) Moser

May your faith, family, friends, and fond memories comfort you as you bid your beloved one a final farewell.

Hans's passing renews countless memories of times our families shared. I recall first meeting your family in June of 1962 shortly after meeting Mary's brother (John Jones), whom I married a few months later that same year. We all shared a special bond as our families grew, making a lifetime of memories.

I'll always remember Mary's "Honey Lamb" as the very unique individual he was. May he rest on peace.

Love as always, Lynette Knobeloch Jones
