Harlan F. Balken, 87, of Mahtomedi, MN passed away on Saturday, October 5th, 2024.
We remember Harlan as always being kind, generous and loving. He enjoyed driving trips and could recall the layout of any city or small town he had been to. After all of his many surgeries he found the strength for patience and endurance. Hunting in South Dakota and around his hometown of Rothsay, MN, playing cards, sitting by a campfire and holidays were special to him because he was with family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents Fred and Hazel Balken; son Steven Balken; sister Janice Lewis; sister-in- law Phyllis Balken; brothers-in-law Bob Lewis and Kirk Kimberling.
Harlan is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois (Kuehl); daughter Barb (Jim) Shepard; grandchildren Steven Shepard, Danielle (Martin) Moe; brother DuWayne Balken; and sister Karen Kimberling.
