Harlan G. Vanderpool
78, of Plainfield passed away on April 1, 2025 at Westside Garden Plaza in Indianapolis. Harlan was born on June 29, 1946 in Blue Island, Illinois to the late Harlan Ira and Dorothy Jeanette (Fransen) Vanderpool.
Harlan proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968. Upon returning home, he worked as a sales representative for many companies over the years, most recently with Yanmar Agricultural Machinery before retiring at the age of 70. However, retirement didn't suit Harlan. From his younger years playing semi pro baseball for Houston, Harlan enjoyed staying active working with his hands around the house, driving his prized Ford 150 Lightning Edition truck, or simply catching up with old friends on Saturday morning at Stack's Pancake House in Plainfield. He was a member of the American Legion and was an avid Chicago White Sox fan! He will be remembered for his outgoing, cheerful personality, who never knew a stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cheryl (Morgan) Vanderpool, daughter Holly Simpson, son Harlan C. Vanderpool, brother Wayne Vanderpool, sister Robin Raciborski, grandchildren Lauren, Emma, Hadley, Harlan, as well as a host of friends and extended family who will miss him dearly.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, April 19th from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Harlan's Life Celebration Memorial Service will immediately follow beginning at 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to be made in Harlan's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 50 E 91st St Ste 100 Indianapolis, IN 46240, https://www.alz.org/indiana.
Final arrangements and cremation are entrusted to Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. Please visit www.CarlisleBranson.com to share a favorite memory or to sign the online guest registry.

My deepest sympathy to the family during this time. Harlan and I always had a great time taking our rides to the local cruise-ins on Friday or Saturday evenings. His F150 Lightning was always a big hit with the crowd. I always looked forward to our Saturday morning breakfast club. This was a small group of men from various walks of life getting together for a time of laughter and sharing their knowledge/experience on any topic brought to the table. The food was good too. Harlan´s pleasant disposition, sense of humor and big smile will be missed by all.
