Harley was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed. He had a good heart and cared about people and was always willing to help. It was a tremendous athlete and a talented boxer and an inspiration to everyone. Make God the father the son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit brings comfort and healing at the loss of your loved one.

Coach Coop,
I'm so sorry I missed the opportunity to say goodbye. I have been trying to reach you by phone for several months as you've been on my mind. Didn't realize your chapter on earth was about to conclude. Haven't seen you in many years but will never forget your kind, wise, and dedicated approach to coaching me. I still remember some very specific things you told me to improve my form and run faster. Or the time you dubbed me "potato man" because I loved mashed potatoes so much. Will never forget your greatness.
Love from Minnesota,
Nate
p.s. would love to know how to reach the family but not sure how to get this information

Harley was man that left a permanent mark on our lives, esp my son Nate who was a young teenager when coach cooper trained him in running, both with the Cornhusker fliers and on coop's own time off season. He took the time to come to my son's graduation from high school. He was truly a man for the ages and he left a huge legacy for so many to follow. So blessed to have known him.

Thoughts and prayers for Harley and the Cooper family. I met Harley when we were both coaching with the Cornhusker Flyers Track Club. I always enjoyed coaching with Harley, and he was fun to be around. Harley could be intense and had high expectations of himself, his family, the people he worked with, and the athletes he coached. That said, Harley was extremely positive and encouraging to the athletes he coached. I will miss Harley's sense of humor and his infectious laugh. I have always believed that the people you associate with either make you a better person or make you less than your best. I know that I am a better person for knowing Harley Cooper. It was my honor and privilege to call Harley a friend. Sadly, I say, it is not goodbye, but until we meet again. Job well done Harley Cooper.
