Cheraw, SC – Mr. Harley Wayne Caulder, age 73, of Cheraw, South Carolina, peacefully passed away at his home on September 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Pastor Dr. Lindsey Powell, with a eulogy delivered by his daughter-in-law, Karen Caulder. The special music will be provided by Ashley Caulder Clark. Following the service, Mr. Caulder will be laid to rest in the Lower Macedonia Memorial Gardens.
The family will greet friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the homeplace, 6587 W. Market Street extension, Cheraw, SC.
Mr. Caulder was born on April 5, 1952, in Wallace, SC, to the late Hoover and Grace Roscoe Caulder. He graduated from Wallace High School and obtained his HVAC-Refrigeration certification from Chesterfield-Marlboro Technical College. Mr. Caulder was a retired employee of Pee Dee Food Service (formerly Five-Star and ARA) and was an active member of Lower Macedonia Baptist Church.
An avid Clemson Tigers fan, Wayne was passionate about sports, having played softball in his younger years and later coaching USSSA Softball. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and played a vital role in founding the C & C Still Hunting Club. Additionally, he enjoyed gardening and operated Caulder's Produce for over 12 years. He was currently serving as president of the Cheraw Farmer’s Market. Above all, Wayne took great pride and joy in being a “Papa” to his grandchildren, always supporting them in their sports activities.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Caulder was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Ladd and Sheila Rivers; and his brother, David Caulder.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Joye Threadgill Caulder; their sons, Austin (Karen) Caulder and Garrett Caulder, both of Cheraw, SC; daughter, Daniele (Chris) Richardson of Hamlet, NC; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The Caulder family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Duke Cancer Center of Scotland Memorial Hospital for their extraordinary care and support during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lower Macedonia Memorial Gardens, P.O. Box 1594, Cheraw, SC 29520.
