Harold Babbit

Harold Babbit, 82, died Sunday surrounded by his family and friends after a three year battle with ALS. Harold was a kind intelligent lawyer, raised by his Lawrence, Kansas family. He graduated from University of Iowa and then Yale University Law School in the 1960's and came to Cleveland with his first wife Dr. Nikki Babbit where they had three children, Ross, Jamie and Rider Babbit. Harold became a widower at 65 and met his second wife Jan Babbit (and her children Nick & Marissa), and they had a long loving marriage until his death. Harold had a natural curiosity and wit and enjoyed his 11 grandchildren and countless friends from all over the Cleveland area: his AA friends, his New Directions family, his Calfee Halter colleagues, his Joe's Deli Bible study gang, his Guardians season ticket holder friends, his running buddies (36 marathons), his St. Peter's friends, Cleveland State University law school colleagues and countless students, friends of Barry on Valley Forge Drive, Kari his helper, and the many strangers who quickly became his friends. Harold knew how to make every person feel important. He will be missed! Services will be on Saturday 10/28, 1pm, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Lakewood.
