A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 10:30 AM at Divine Mercy Parish ~ Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in West Bend. Burial will be held in the West Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Divine Mercy Parish ~ Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in West Bend with a Knights of Columbus Rosary beginning at 4 PM.
Harold Paul Bonnstetter, son of Rudolph and Ellen (Nessen) Bonnstetter, was born March 11, 1940 on the family farm in West Bend. He graduated from West Bend High School in 1958. He married his life-long love Carol (Larson) on November 10, 1962.
Harry and Carol made their home on the family farmstead where they raised their three children. Harry made his living as a farmer-over the years raising cattle, corn and beans. He and Carol spent their retirement years wintering in Arizona and summers back on the farm. In 2010 Harry and Carol moved from the farm to their current home in Whittemore.
Family and friends know Harry for his quick wit and sense of humor-a master storyteller-always sharing an untold tale from his childhood or a funny adventure from his adolescent days. While he loved to fish, camp and golf his greatest joy came from spending time with his wife Carol, his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids, spending time at church and helping elders in the community.
Harry was a member of Holy Name in Whittemore, Knight's of Columbus in West Bend and St. Michael's Catholic Church.
Harry died Saturday, October 7, 2023 at West Bend Health and Rehabilitation. He was 83.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of West Bend; children, Pam (Terry) Hanselman of West Bend, Penny (John) Even of Humboldt, SD; Rudy (Wendy) Bonnstetter of Shawnee, KS; 6 grandchildren, Crystal Simpson, Katelyn Wolter, Clinton Even, Emily Kontz, Sydney Bonnstetter, Swea Bonnstetter; great-grandchildren, Ryan Simpson, Emmet, Leo, and Bo Wolter, Lewis Harold and Piper Kontz; twin brother, Harlan (Judy) Bonnstetter; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents; and siblings, Leroy Bonnstetter, Richard Bonnstetter, and Marlene Bormann.
