Harold Bowman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lakes Funeral Home on Jan. 20, 2025.
Harold Douglas Bowman, Sr., age 92, a lifelong resident of Berea, Kentucky, passed away on January 19, 2025, in his hometown. He was born to the late Thomas Oliver and Nancy "Nannie" Ambrose Bowman on September 1, 1932, in Berea. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Grounded in his love for learning and advancement, Harold achieved academic excellence, receiving his master's degree in Business from the University of Kentucky. With a keen mind for technology, he joined IBM as a pioneer computer programmer, a field that was just blossoming at the time. He later channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into local enterprises, notably forming the Berea Fitness Center, driving forward with K and Veterans cab company, and demonstrating his lifelong zest for business by trading stocks up until recent times.
Harold's personal life was rich with love and joy; he is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Bowman, and their two children, Jennifer Sue (Larry) Johnson and Harold Douglas (Lori) Bowman, Jr. His legacy continues through his brother, James M. (Nancy) Bowman, his adored four grandchildren, Lisa (Keith) Bicknell, Michael Tackett, Maribeth (William) Couch, and Rebecca (Nate) Steely, and his cherished great-grandchildren, Kloe' Kelly, Wyatt Kelly, Levi Tackett, John Tackett, Raychel Alexander, Jennalynn Flannery, Keaton Fish, and Lora Elayne Couch. His life was tinged with sorrow as he was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Christina Ward.
Funeral services will be 11 am, Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Michael Tackett, Preston Sowder, Eddie Hubbard, Ron Hubbard, William Couch, and Nate Steely. Honorary bearer will be James Bowman, Jr.
