Harold Breiner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Orender Family Home on Dec. 23, 2025.
Harold (Harry) Wayne Breiner, 74, of Wall, dedicated husband, father, Pop-Pop, brother, uncle, cousin, neighbor, and friend, entered peacefully into eternal rest on December 21st after an inspirational fifteen-month battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Harry was raised in Bergen County and in Freehold, NJ. He settled in Wall Township in 1975 and lived as a pillar of the community until his passing. He graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School, Brookdale Community College, and earned his bachelor's degree at New Jersey City University.

Committed to helping others, Harry served 25 years in the Wall Township Police Department and nearly 13 more with Monmouth University police, achieving the rank of Sergeant with both departments. He won many awards for his service over the years; notably 1986 Police Officer of the Year and 1986 Wall Township Citizen of the Year. Harry was instrumental in programs throughout the town, county, and state- including "National Night Out," the predecessor to D.A.R.E., Project ID, Law Enforcement Explorers, Crime Prevention, and was a sought-after instructor at the Monmouth County Police Academy.

Harry gave his time, money, and energy to many worthwhile causes, including FulFill (Monmouth County Food Bank), St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Rose, Project Children, Kaleidoscope of Hope, innumerable religious charities, Law Enforcement Explorers, and youth sports, including 38 straight years as a volunteer Wall Soccer Coach.

Harry loved travel and adventure. "The Unicorn" as doctors called him, defied medical odds, taking 13 trips following his cancer diagnosis. When not traveling or volunteering, Harry could be found running his daily errands, "puttering" in the yard, golfing around the world with family, reading thriller novels, hosting dinner parties, or dominating his family in scrabble.

First and foremost, in Harry's life was his faith followed by his family. He was predeceased by his biological parents Harold William and Lorraine Breiner, his adopted mother Dorothy Breiner, his sisters Lorraine Meichtry and Betty Henderson; as well as his wife of thirty-six years and mother of his children, Loretta (Maloney) Breiner. Harry is survived by his beloved wife Carol (Sweeney) Krakower-Breiner, his six children, Harry Jr. and his wife Tara of Wall, Craig and his wife, Brooke, of Howell, David of Toms River, Christine DeSarno and her husband, Rick, of Wall, Maura Russell and her husband Scott, of Wall, and Emily at home. His stepchildren: Bridget Proietti and her husband John of Middletown, NJ, Jerilyn Smith and her husband Eric of Neptune, Dan Krakower of Frederick, Maryland, and Steven Krakower, and his wife Stephanie of Baltimore, Maryland. Of all his titles, "Pop-Pop" was Harry's favorite. He is survived by his grandchildren: Christian, Conor, Logan, Ava, Olivia, Audrey, Caleigh, Jack Breiner, Brecken, Aria, Cora, Jack Proietti, and Odin. Harry's surviving sisters include Anne Marie (Pete) Coppola of Holland Twp, Mary Jo of Tallahassee, Florida, and Jeannie (Randy) Corradino of Woodstock. Georgia. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in-law, cousins, and friends.
