In Loving Memory of Harold Ray Carpenter
Harold Ray Carpenter, age 84, departed this world on January 5, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri as a result of a tragic automobile accident. Born on December 3, 1939, he dedicated a lifetime to spreading the Gospel of Jesus and serving others with unwavering devotion.
Harold was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and cherished friend. He was born to Lowell & Helen Carpenter in Paris, Arkansas and spent his formative years with a rich heritage of Pentecostal pastors, teachers and evangelists including his Grandfather, John Gattis, Aunt Mattie Patillo, Uncle Ray Moore and Cousin Tommy Carpenter.
Harold was a respected professor and chairman of the Missions Department at Central Bible College for 20 years, as well as the Latin America Theological Seminary (a post graduated seminary of the Assemblies of God for all of Spanish speaking Latin America), which he was a part of from the beginning in 1988. He taught at least one class, and often more than one, every year for 35 years of its existence. He was known for his profound knowledge, passion for teaching and shaped the minds of generations of students instilling in them a passion for missions and reaching others for Christ.
His greatest joy was found in his grandchildren, great grandchildren, the farm life, and his interest in restoring Model T's.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Myrna Rae Carpenter and his first-born grandson Brian O'Connor. He is survived by his children, Michael [Lindi] Carpenter, Kevin [Luz] Carpenter, Rhonda [Paul] O'Connor, Sheryl [Bruce] Coats, Rick [Christina] Carpenter, his grandchildren, Lara Carpenter-Podesta, JoAnna [Nick] Scott, Kyle Carpenter, Justin Carpenter, Lacey [John] Wilcoxson, Brittney [Todd] Wells, Rachel [Seth] Cook, Ben [Lauren] Coats, Josiah [Nicole] Carpenter, Leah [Christopher] Vandider, Samuel [Myra] Carpenter, Levi Carpenter, Emily Carpenter, and great grandchildren, Logan O'Connor Alexis O'Connor, Leighton Podesta, Mikey Carpenter, Adam Carpenter, Jethro Carpenter, Landon Podesta, Evelyn Vandider, Everett Vandider, Junia Coats, Indiana Scott, Liam Podesta, Azaliyah Vandider, Lilly Carpenter, Silas Coats, Eleanor Wilcoxson and Fiona Vandider.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 12 at: 3:00 p.m.
