Harold L. Cornutt, 95, passed from this life on Monday, February 5, 2024. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 77 years, Betty J. Cornutt, daughter Cheri (Art) Oravet, son Bruce (Jinger) Cornutt, grandchildren Tony (Cate) Oravet, Bart (Holly) Oravet, Alicia Smith, Haley (Rai) Avery, Emily (Ben) Ingram, Tanner Adams, Christian Ridgeway, 14 great-grandchildren, sister Janice Colegrove, brother in law Harold Rogers, special friend Charlie Copeland, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Pauline Cornutt, mother and father in law, Oliver and Omie Johnson, brother Ferrell Cornutt with his wife Doris, John Paul Cornutt with his wife Louise, brother in law Bobby Colegrove, and sister in law Mildred Rogers.
Harold was a devoted follower of Jesus and ministered in song across the Southeast with members of his family known as "The Singing Cornutt's" for most of three decades. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict and was retired from the United States Postal Service after more than 30 years' service. He was a member of Twelfth Street Baptist Church.
A celebration of life will be held at 2PM on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, AL. Visitation will be Noon to 2PM immediately preceding the service. A private interment service for members of the family will follow at Crestwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Art Oravet, Bart Oravet, Rai Avery, Ben Ingram, Kris Cornutt, and Kevin Cornutt.
Honorary pallbearer will be Tony Oravet.
