Funeral services for Harold Gene "Buddy" Dyess, 66, will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Apostolic Church of Lord of Jesus Christ in West Monroe. Pastor David Mixon, Reverend Mark McFerrin and Reverend Allen Fulkerson will be officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Ridge Cemetery at Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes, West Monroe. A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, June 30, 2025 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe.
Buddy was born on June 25, 1959 in Fairfield, California and passed away on June 26, 2025 at his residence surrounded by family. In his younger years, Buddy grew up playing baseball for Alexandria and was an all-star player. His dad coached him for many years. Buddy was a contractor for over 40 years and specialized in all types of home and business repairs. Buddy has a love for music, he loved singing and picking up his guitar. He also enjoyed going to the fishing camp and spending time with his friends and family. When you are fishing with Buddy, he was very competitive and was sure to always catch more than you. He also enjoyed hunting with his dad and son. Buddy never met a stranger and loved people. He was a talker and never lost for words, anyone that came in contact with him, hoped they had time to stay awhile. He will be remembered mostly for his love of God, he put God before anything in his life. He received the Holy Ghost, May 24th 1995 in Yuma, Arizona. Buddy will forever be in our hearts and minds. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, James Arlis Dyess and Gloria Gene Dyess.
Buddy is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Terry Allen Dyess; children, Jimmy Lee Dyess and wife Bethany, Nicole Marie Warman and husband Andrew, Katie Leigh Dyess; bonus children, John Bradley Thomas and wife Macalla, Chad Thomas and wife Tara, Clayton Thomas and wife Ashley, Willie Thomas and wife Tiffany; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 15 bonus grandchildren; 3 bonus great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sherri Frith and husband Bruce; and mother-in-law, Estalene Warren and husband John Warren; along with other cherished family and friends.
Honoring Buddy as pallbearers will be Bruce Frith, John Bradley Thomas, Clayton Thomas, Willie Thomas, Dakota McFerrin, Daryl Mixon, Ben Dyess and Daniel Murray. Honorary pallbearers will be Sabas Lopez, Nathaniel Mixon, Paul Linder, Ivan Dycus, David Massey, Dan Vallery and Josh Vallery.
