Harold Hensley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Winters Funeral Home - Winters on May 4, 2023.
Harold Glenn Hensley passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023.
Harold was born July 6, 1941, in Wingate, Texas to Elward (Andy) and Delia Ometa (Henley) Hensley. As a boy, he worked on many ranches throughout Texas and California with his older brother Troy cooling down the cutting horses that his dad trained. He graduated high school in Alpine, Texas in 1959. After finishing high school, he attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock for two years before joining the professional rodeo circuit. Harold competed for seven years riding bareback horses. In 1969 he married Martha Fine and eventually became a ranch foreman for the Burr Ranch in Brackettville, Texas for nine years. Harold fiercely loved his family. The greatest joys of his life were watching his children and grandchildren play sports and showing livestock. In the last few years, he especially loved knowing his great grandchildren. He also loved attending and following Texas high school football teams on Friday nights. Harold was proceeded in death by his parents Andy and Ometa, older brother Troy and his youngest brother, Gerald. Harold is survived by his daughter Michelle Hiner and husband Tim of Lubbock, Texas and his son David Phillips of Mountain Home, Arkansas, 6 grandchildren Colby, Matthew, Charlie, Blaine, Xander, and Elisa: 6 great grandchildren Cooper, Ava, Christian, Emma, Louisa, and Delilah. He is also survived by his sister Eva Lou (Sissy) and Dickie Hoffman of Graham, Texas; several cousins Zane Hensley, Joyce Howard, Patsy Robertson, Steve Henley; along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Friday May 5 from 10-12 at Winters Funeral Home. Interment services to follow at 2:30 in Wingate cemetery.
