Harold Hite Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremation & Funeral Services of Tidewater on Feb. 12, 2024.
Norfolk- On Friday, February 9, 2024 Dr. Harold Rick Hite, 85, passed away due to natural causes.
The eldest son of Gertrude and Howard Hite, Rick grew up with his younger brother, Rod, in Altoona, PA.
Rick went to Dartmouth College for undergraduate studies, John's Hopkins for his master's, then Michigan State for his doctoral work.
He began the theater department at Virginia Wesleyan college in the late 60's where he dedicated himself to his passion of theater until his retirement 1999 as professor emeritus. As well as serving as a senior faculty member in theater and communications, Rick was constantly involved in productions and acting outside of the college in theaters, film, radio and advertisements, too many to mention.
Rick is survived by his wife, Barbara, and children, Christopher, Jonathan, and Margaret.
There will be no formal services, we ask that you celebrate his life in ways he would appreciate, food, wine, a good book, a beautiful sunrise on the beach, or traveling the world and meeting new and interesting people.
Cremation & Funeral Services of Tidewater is assisting his family. Please share memories and express condolences at CandFServices.com.

My sincere condolences to Bobbie and family. I wish I had known sooner so I could have expressed my respect and fondness for Rick and Bobbie. I will remember him walking down Colley Avenue dapperly sporting a vest and baret.
