Harold Jones, age 94, of Bedford, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at his residence. Born September 16, 1929 in Manchester, Kentucky, he was the son of Harvey and Lucy (Gregory) Jones.
Mr. Jones was a veteran and Purple Heart recipient of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner/operator of a construction firm for fifty years that helped build a portion of Interstate 75 in Tennessee. He was a lifetime member and deacon of the Antioch Baptist Church.
His family said he was dependable, kind and "honest as the day is long." He was true to his word, making sure that if he told someone he would do something, it would be done.
His surviving family includes his wife, the former Margaret Sue Congleton, to whom he was married January 12, 1954 in Jellico, Tennessee and who recently celebrated their seventy-first anniversary; two sons: Thomas L. Jones of Laconia, Indiana, and Wayne Jones and his wife, Rita Ann of Bedford; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Charles; several brothers and sisters; and one daughter-in-law, Golda L. Jones on March 7, 2024.
