Harold Russell Joseph, Jr., aged 86, passed away on November 17, 2024, in Houston, Texas. Born on July 2, 1938, Harold, affectionately known by many as Russell or Russ, led a life marked by dedication to his faith, family, career, and country.
Russel was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He spent his childhood through young adult life in Austin, TX. Russell moved to New Orleans as a young professional and met and married Kathleen Coates, the love of his life.
Russell graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Architectural Engineering and was a proud member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and the Army ROTC. He served honorably in the Army, where he applied his skills and dedication in the Corps of Engineers. Professionally, Russell made significant contributions as a Consulting Engineer in Houston, where he worked for 50 years, earning respect and admiration of his colleagues. Russell and Kathy owned and operated Joseph Construction Consulting Company for thirty years from 1984 to 2014. For over 40 years, Russell served on the Willow Fork drainage district and various municipal utility boards tasked with Cinco Ranch development. Russell retired from the board after 40 years of service to the Cinco Ranch area. In 2022, the "Harold Russell Joseph Jr Park" (located at Radcliff and Springfield Ridge Dr in the Pine Mill community) was dedicated in honor of Russell's influence and leadership.
A man of faith, Russell was a longtime member of Saint John Vianney Church. His personal interests included a variety of hobbies and activities, but he was particularly passionate about traveling across the United States, exploring its many landscapes and cultures.
Russell is survived by his spouse, Kathy; son and family, Michael Joseph, wife Sheri, and grandsons Ian, and Reid of Charlotte, NC; son, Harold Joseph of Houston, TX; and sister Nancy Joseph Perryman of Austin, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Russell Joseph and Mary Anne Thornton Joseph, and sister Anne Thornton Allen.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 AM on December 2, 2024, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church (625 Nottingham Oaks Trail). In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Russell can be made to Habitat for Humanity
