Sharon Jean Oman Chervenka

August 9, 1963 – August 24, 2025

Sharon Jean Oman Chervenka passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2025, with her family by her side.

Sharon, the youngest of six children born to Richard and Shirley Oman, grew up outside the small town of Chisholm, MN. Sharon enjoyed being at the family cabin on Long Lake where she would spend most of her summers swimming and exploring the outdoors. She would always have her birthday celebrations there as well.

Sharon also enjoyed having animals, from cats and dogs, to rabbits, and even horses. Sharon and her sister would ride their horses with other friends on the county roads by their house. Being in Minnesota, Sharon also enjoyed snow skiing and ice skating.

By the mid-80s, Sharon had grown weary of the cold and decided to move to Texas. She spent a few years in the Houston area before settling in Austin where she met her future husband, Kevin Chervenka. She completed her bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1998 from the University of Texas and was hired by Intel in Chandler, Arizona. Sharon moved to the Phoenix area and Kevin followed a year later. Sharon and Kevin were married on October 23,1999. They spent the next four years in Arizona, where they welcomed their only child, Justin, on July 8, 2001. In 2003, the family moved back to the Austin area and made their life there.

Sharon loved to travel, mostly to warm places, but she enjoyed going snow skiing as well. Her favorite place to be was near the water. Be it the beach or the pool she conned Kevin into building in the back yard. She enjoyed spending many days in the sun with friends watching Justin and his friends play in the water.

Sharon is survived by her husband of nearly 26 years, Kevin, their son, Justin, sisters, Nancy (Mike) Rosol of Lavon, TX, Sue Townsend of Brooklyn Heights, MN, and Sally (Dan) Fencl of Cedar Falls, IA, brother, John Oman of Las Vegas, NV, and many nieces and nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Shirley Oman, and her brother, Rick Oman.

Visitation will be Saturday September 27th at 9 a.m. at Beck Funeral home, 15709 RR 620, Austin, 78717, followed by a Celebration of her life at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to the American Cancer Society or The V Foundation in Sharon's memory.
