Harold Leidig, age 85, of Greencastle, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at his home in Greencastle. Born in Leitersburg, MD on November 23, 1940, he was the son of the late Arthur and Ida Nowell Leidig.
Mr. Leidig was a 1958 graduate of the Greencastle-Antrim Senior High School. He went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1964, as an Aviation Structural Mechanic Third Class; he was stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for part of his tour. Mr. Leidig worked as a Master Electrician for over 50 years, for Richard F. Kline, Warren Electric, and lastly Encompass, where he retired in 2006. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, a life member of the Greencastle Sportsman’s Association and Mercersburg Sportsman’s Association. Mr. Leidig enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, reading the Bible, Bible trivia, and crosswords.
Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Nancy Stumbaugh Leidig, whom he married on October 24, 1961; a daughter, Brenda Faust (husband Ernie) of Greencastle, PA; a granddaughter, Alison Russell (Tanner) of Sevierville, TN; and his beloved cat, Lucy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, in 2019, Barbara Rupp.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 10 AM in Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA 17225, where Pastor Irene Pouliot will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 5 – 7 PM and on Monday, March 23, 2026, one hour to the service at the funeral home and address above. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Trinity United Church of Christ, P.O.
