Mr. Harold McCormick, age 92, of Boaz, Alabama, left for his place in Heaven with the Lord on Saturday, September 21, 2024. He was surrounded by his family.

Harold was born in Alabama on March 11, 1932, to Loyd and Comella Kilpatrick McCormick. After graduating from Boaz High School he enlisted in the Navy for four years working in cryptography. Upon returning to Sand Mountain, he worked at the Steel Mill in Gadsden and then at the GoodYear plant in Gadsden, from which he retired. He loved coaching Little League Baseball. Creative and good with his hands, he always had a well-tended garden and a busy shop for wood-working and other home and volunteer projects. After retiring from GoodYear, he enjoyed playing golf, reading western novels, and following his beloved Crimson Tide. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Harold is survived by his son, Ken McCormick of Alabama; daughters Lea Ann Zino (Greg) of Georgia and Beth Huber (Art) of Ohio; grandchildren Ashley Ellis (Kevin), Juliann Huber, and Zhenya Huber; great grandchildren Ariel Reeves and Payton Ellis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Baker McCormick, his parents, Loyd and Comella McCormick, his sister, Betty Smith, and his brothers, Troy McCormick and Travis McCormick.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky McCormick, Delaine McCormick, Casey McCormick, Jason McCormick, Randy McCormick, Greg Zino, and Art Huber. Serving as honorary pallbearers is the R.P. Steed Sunday School of First Baptist Church, Boaz.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McRae Funeral Home in Boaz. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the McRae Chapel with Dr. Tommy Turner and Mrs. Bob Hunt (Rosalie) officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Glen Smith and Mrs. Tommy Pierce. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Big Oak Ranch (250 Jake Mintz Rd, Gadsden, AL 35905) or Shepherd’s Cove Hospice (408 Martling Road,  Albertville, AL 35951).
