Harold Dean McGuffey, 78, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 23, 2025. He was born March 22, 1946, in McCreary County, Kentucky to the late Charles and Lessie McGuffey.
Harold Dean worked years out of an Iron Workers Hall until hiring on at Delco Remy. He worked as a millwright in skilled trades until his retirement. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Harold Dean loved getting the entire family together to just watching them play and listening to the new adventures his family was having. He loved helping his neighbors out with any project that was needed. Harold Dean helped maintain the landscaping and the outside of his home church, Three Forks Church of Christ. He loved spending time in his workshop and reading his Bible each morning.
He is survived by his wife, Dixie Mowrey McGuffey; daughters, Tammy Hunter, Carol Goodwill (Husband Walt) and April McGuffey (Ryan Osborn); step son, Cody Price; grandchildren, Rachel Daniels, Kent Lewis (Jessica), Candace Henderson (Devon), Casey Auler, Ethan McGuffey-Goodwill, Tyler Bristow (Heaven), Lukas Goodwill (Veronica), Garrett Hunter, Chase Hunter (Diane), Mason Hunter, Lexie Hunter; 21 beautiful great grandchildren; step siblings, Doris Behrer, Jimmy Meadows, Julie Spradlin and Roberta Ledbetter; sister, Virginia Sipe; in-laws, Ted and Reberta Mowrey; brother-in-law, Rick Mowrey (Beth); his friend and first wife, Hazel “Imogene” Johnson.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lessie McGuffey; stepfather Ed Meadows; brothers, Rev. James Meredith McGuffey, Charles Don McGuffey, Tommy Lendell McGuffey, Ernest Roy McGuffey, Danny C. “Bonnie” Boone, Steve M. “Steve” Boone; sister, Phyllis A McGuffey Watters; stepbrother, Willard Meadows; granddaughter, Heather Goodwill.
Services will be at 12:00 pm on Tuesday January 28, 2025, at Meadowbrook Church of Christ 601 W. 38th Street, Anderson, IN 46013. Interment will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home Daleville, IN.
