Harold Keith Oberkfell, age 73 of Maryville, IL, born April 3, 1951, in Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Keith was a 1969 Collinsville High School graduate. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a clerk and served as a past President of the union. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and St. Luke's Methodist Church in Maryville. He and his wife, Marcia, were the project leaders of the mural on Donk Street in Maryville dedicated to the past major league baseball players from Maryville. He was an avid St. Louis Blues Hockey and Cincinnati Reds Baseball fan, especially of Pete Rose. Keith loved traveling with his wife and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Lawrence and Alma Ruth (nee Johnson) Oberkfell; and a brother, Paul Michael Oberkfell.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marcia (nee Horner) Oberkfell, whom he married October 23, 2015; five children: Miranda Mills, Monica (Jeremy) Pfeffer, Tyler (Jennifer) Oberkfell and Todd (Jomar) Oberkfell, and James "JR" (Laura) Evans; 10 grandchildren: Mason, Marissa, Lydia, Owen, Luke, Drew, Alex, Aiden, Drew and Ellis; five siblings: Cheryl Walker, Karen (Tim) Gent, David Oberkfell, Traci (Raymond) Deien and George (Amy) Oberkfell; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at St. Luke's Methodist Church, 6325 West Main, Maryville, IL 62062.
Memorial service will follow at 12 noon officiated by Rev. Robin Lyons.
Memorials are suggested to St. Luke's Methodist Church and will be received at the church.
