Harold Ray Powell, 77, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025 in Bon Secours-Southern Virginia Medical Center. Mr. Powell was born on November 3, 1948, the son of the late Courtney Lou Baird and Milton Jeff Powell. He was preceded in death by his brothers Roy Powell, J.W. Powell, Melvin Powell, and Freddie Powell.
Mr. Powell attended Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church and served our country as a member of the United States Army.
Surviving include his wife Janet Spence Powell; his sons Tony Powell (Joy) of Raleigh, Kevin Powell (Stacy) of Angier, and Gary Powell (Alison) of Fuquay Varina; his brother Winfred Powell (Judy) of Emporia; his sisters: Evelyn Drake of Franklin, VA, Carolyn Barnes (Wayne) of Roanoke Rapids, and Lynn Powell (William) of Roanoke Rapids; his sisters-in-law Ida Powell and Lou Powell; his grandchildren: Cameron Powell (Marissa), Christopher Powell, Mollie Powell, George Powell, and Lilly Powell; and his great grandchildren Lincoln Powell and Calvin Powell; and his brother-in-law Steve “Bitty” Spence.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Tim Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.
