Harold William Sciotto, affectionately known to his family as "Papa" and to his friends as "Hal," passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025 in Mesa, Arizona with his loving daughter, Dina, and devoted son, Sam by his side. Born on May 13, 1938, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and lived in Cleveland, Ohio. Harold was the cherished son of Sam Sciotto and Bendina (Ferrante) Sciotto. He was the youngest of four siblings; brothers, Bruce, Sam, and sister, Anna Marie.
In 1961, Harold began a new chapter by joining his brother Bruce in Phoenix to open a successful TV repair shop. The remainder of his immediate family followed suit, moving to Arizona shortly thereafter. Inspired by his entrepreneurial spirit, in 1964 Harold embarked on what would become a long and distinguished career with Sears. His natural drive, work ethic and passion for helping others made him a perfect fit for the company. He quickly became known not only for his professional excellence, but also his personal integrity. Throughout his role at Sears, Harold went above and beyond building meaningful relationships, becoming a mentor to all those who knew him. Harold retired from Sears in 1995.
Additionally, Harold was very proud of his service in the US Army National Guard, where he received an award for his outstanding leadership from the Arizona Military Academy.
An avid and passionate golfer, poker enthusiast, and skier, Harold enjoyed socializing as a member of Red Mountain Ranch Country Club in Mesa, Arizona. His friendly approachable nature made him a well-known and well-loved figure in his community. He was also known for his culinary talents creating lasting memories around the table with his family and friends. He took pride in his dancing skills, often impressing others as he "cut a rug." His warmth and humor brought joy to all who knew him.
Harold met and married Sue VanSant in 1962. Div 1989. They raised four children together; James, Sam, Dina and Christy.
Harold bravely fought a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, showing immense courage and strength throughout his journey.
Harold is survived by his brother Sam; his devoted son, Samuel Sciotto; and his wife, Laurén; his beloved daughter, Dina (Sciotto) Scott, and her husband, Bret Scott; along with ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and five nieces and nephews who will continue to cherish his memory and the legacy of love he leaves behind.
