Harold George Slade, known to all as "Hal," 68, of Ventura, California, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, after a courageous 21-month battle with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. A lifelong Ventura resident, Hal was born on June 22, 1957, and dedicated his life to serving others through his faith, family, and profession.
Hal built a distinguished career, most recently serving as an IT Contract Manager at Amgen for over 10 years. He was respected for his expertise in strategic sourcing and contract negotiations, demonstrating the same integrity and dedication in his professional life that he brought to all his endeavors
Above all, Hal was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where his faith served as the cornerstone of his life. He held numerous leadership positions in local congregations and dedicated countless hours to mentoring youth and serving in the temple. His commitment to church service continued until his final days, reflecting his unwavering devotion to his beliefs and his peaceful acceptance of life's challenges.
Hal's greatest joy came from his family. He was a loving husband to Nina Slade, his devoted companion of 46 years whom he married in 1979. Together, they created a legacy of love and service that touched many lives.
When not serving others, Hal enjoyed cycling, gardening, and sailing. He treasured time spent with his family and found peace in nature's beauty.
Hal is survived by his beloved wife, Nina Slade; his children Kashia (Jeff) Arnold, Jacquelyn (Giuseppe) Vinci, Austen (Kyrie) Slade, Brianna (Alan) Hintze, and Haley Slade; his brothers Bill Slade and Rusty Slade; and his cherished grandchildren McKenzie Arnold, Tylar Arnold, Kennedy Arnold, Tyler Slade, Jensen Slade, Sierra Slade, Mia Vinci, Anders Hintze, Sydnie Hintze, and Miles Hintze.
Hal's legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him. His peaceful spirit and dedication to helping others will be remembered and cherished forever.
Funeral Services for Hal will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 3501 Loma Vista Rd, Ventura, CA 93003

Yesterday

I Didn´t have the pleasure of knowing brother Hal slade very well, However, I did have the privilege of spending time with him in our temple, serving together, along with his beautiful wife.

Even though he was at that point, very weak, and not feeling well, he was so warm and friendly, and filled with a beautiful spirit of light. I will always treasure that little bit of time spending with our dear Friend, and brother.

May God be with you Nina, till you meet again.
With love, and prayers,
Patsy Walker

We are grateful for the opportunity we had to come to know and love Hal and Nina while serving together in the young single adult ward. His love for the young single adults and his dedication to Jesus Christ was an example to all of us. Years later, he and Nina traveled all the way to southern Utah to attend the sealing ceremony of a young couple that met and married while in our YSA ward. Everyone loved being around Hal because he made you feel like he cared about you was grateful that he could rub shoulders with you. We cherish the memories.
