Harold Douglas Venard
Wichita - Harold Douglas Venard, 82, passed away October 12, 2025 at Ascension via Christi St. Francis in Wichita. He was born June 6, 1943 in Nashville, Kansas to Harold and Hazel (Keith) Venard. Harold married Ann (Eck) Venard on September 14, 1968 in St. Leo. They were married for 57 years.
Harold graduated from Nashville High School in 1961. He then joined the United States Army where he worked as a radio operator. After the military, he worked as a lineman for Ninnescah Rural Electric Company. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and coaching children and his children in youth baseball. Harold was a jack of all trades, always fixing things and making improvements. He was an excellent baseball player. Harold and Ann organized the group that founded the baseball program for Pratt High School.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Venard; daughter, Janell (Steve) Ziegler of Kingman, Kansas; sons, Doug Venard of Pratt and Heath Venard of Pratt; brother, Lloyd Venard of Cunningham; sister, Bonnie (Gary) Strodtman of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Dakota, Cooper and Chloe Venard; great-grandchild, Wren Venard.
Harold is preceded in death by his father, Harold Douglas Venard; mother, Hazel Edna Venard; brother, John Venard; sister, Betty Hauser.
Cremation has taken place. A vigil/rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Mass Of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pratt with Father Charles Atuah presiding. Inurnment with military honors will follow at 2:30 p.m. at St. Leo Catholic Cemetery, St. Leo, Kansas.
Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund and mailed to Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, Kansas. 67124. Online condolences may be made at www.larrisonmortuary.com.
