Harold Edward Witzke was born in Bay City, MI on August 15, 1926 to the late Ernest and Helen (Quintel) Witzke. He passed away on June 10, 2025 at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw, MI. Harold married Bonnie M. Buck on August 20, 1949 and she preceded him in death on March 8, 2001.

Harold was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church. He was retired from Dow Chemical Co.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Harold enjoyed carving and painting ducks, sailing in his boat with family and friends, singing, golfing, playing games with his fellow veteran, golfing and working on cars. He could fix anything. He loved his Lord dearly.

Harold is survived by his daughter Lynn M. (David) Schwall and son Mark Richards, 3 grandchildren: Renay (Craig) Revette, Jonathan (Kristina) Schwall and Allison (Layne) Sonntag, and 11 great grandchildren: Jack, Joe, Gabe, Gavin, Ellie, Jett, Amelia, Winston, Oscar, Aiden and Alec.

The family offers a very special thank you to his doctor and all the loving care givers and staff who gave over and above 100%. Their care, comfort and love is why he called them his family. To all the veteran at the VA hospital who touched our father's heart in a very special way. We thank you all!

Funeral and committal service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church. The Rev. Matthew Hatzung will officiate. Military Rites will follow provided by the Bay Co. Veterans Council and the U.S. Navy. Private burial will be at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church or the VA Medical Center.

Visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.at Penzien Steele Funeral Home. He will lie in state at the church on Saturday from10 a.m.until the service begins.
