Leigh Maynard Howes, 75, a faithful servant of the Lord, went home to be with her Risen Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 25, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and dear friends. Born to the late Robert L. Maynard and Harriet Rose Maynard Aughinbaugh, Leigh lived her life as a witness to God's love through her obedience to God, and her kindness and generous spirit towards others. After graduating from nursing school, she answered God's call to care for people as a Registered Nurse, serving for over 50 years with compassion and skill. A devoted member of Ancient City Baptist Church, Leigh loved worshiping her Lord through song as an alto in the church choir, studying His Word in Sunday School and Bible Study, and joyfully welcoming visitors as a docent. She truly lived out the calling to "serve one another humbly in love" (Galatians 5:13). Leigh was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. For 47 years, she shared her life with her husband, Ron Howes, walking faithfully by his side through the blessings and challenges of military life as they traveled the world. In recent years, her greatest earthly joy was spending time with her family, especially her four young grandchildren, who knew her as their "Gigi." She also delighted in the many gifts God gave her: co-founding a book club that is in its 23rd year, golfing, exercising, creating beautiful wreaths and flower arrangements, and crafting beaded jewelry. In recent years, she was quietly pleased to offer her jewelry for sale at the Pena-Peck House. Leigh shared her love of fellowship by cooking and entertaining in her beautiful home, and she brought joy to her neighbors while walking her adorably neurotic Yorkie, Annie. All who knew Leigh would agree that she reflected the light of Christ-she was gentle, gracious, and a trusted friend whose life pointed others to God's perfect love. Leigh is survived by her mother, Harriet Aughinbaugh; husband, Ron Howes; daughters Emily Windfelder (Mark) and Elyse Lickteig (Ryan); and her cherished grandchildren Leighton Lael (8) and Ainsley Adele (4) Windfelder, and Owen Maynard (3) and Theodore "Theo" Carter (1) Lickteig. She is also survived by her brother Robert D. Maynard (Nancy) and their children Bob Maynard (Cindy) and Kate Ortiz (Omar); brothers-in-law Wayne Sherman, Richard Howes (Nadelle) and Kenneth Howes and his son Jerry Howes (Elizabeth); sister-in-law Barbara Smith (George); nieces Christy Gable (John) and Mandy Bustillo; and made it a point to spoil her many great-nieces and nephews. She was welcomed into Heaven by her father Bob Maynard; stepfather Rev. Paul Aughinbaugh; sister April Maynard Sherman; in-laws Marjorie and Frank Howes; and niece Courtney Howes. Leigh finished her race with faith (2 Timothy 4:7), and her legacy of love will continue through the many lives she touched. Her family rejoices in the blessed assurance that she is in the presence of her Lord and Savior for eternity. Leigh's memorial service will be held Saturday, September 27th at 3pm at Ancient City Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Bailey Family Center for Caring.

Such beautiful memories going way back to the early 1960´s, learning to ski together, sleigh rides, first fondue experience...I know you will be missed and I also know you are in the arms of your Savior.
