Harry Baldwin, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024. After having a tough year with several hospital and rehab stays yet regaining his strength and independence, Harry passed away unexpectedly. He realized his desire which was to be able to live out his life at the lake and in the home he loved.
Harry is preceded in death by his wife, Carol, who passed in 2022, and by his daughter, Debra, who passed in 2017. Harry and Carol enjoyed life at the Lake of the Ozarks for 37 years making it the permanent residence for the last 25 years. During that time, they acquired many cherished friends and neighbors. Together they accumulated many fond memories of wonderful times with family and friends. Harry was especially thankful since his wife's passing for his closest neighbors who regularly checked in on him, brought him some meals, helped when he called and visited with him often.
Harry is survived by his daughter, Sharol; his grandsons, Brandon, Ben and Tom; and his great grandchildren along with other loving relatives.
Many would describe Harry as a strong, determined and self-made man. He started out as a land surveyor, became a journeyman carpenter, then became a journeyman machinist, and finally went on to become a certified processing and methods aeronautical engineer - working while completing the apprenticeships or professional studies required. He ultimately retired from Boeing after a long engineering career making his permanent residence at the lake with Carol. Harry was also an accomplished skeet and trap shooter - his favorite lifelong hobby.
Harry lived by example the saying: "Where there's a will, there's a way". People close to him witnessed his grit and determination as he hurdled adversity or health setbacks. Shortly before his death, Harry had realized his goal to regain the strength to return home living independently. He was fortunate enough to be able to rejoin his "supper club friends" for dinner, whom he had not seen since last summer.
Harry has passed on but the memory of his love and dedication to his family never will. He will be deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life may be held at a later time.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Homes, 1270 S Business Route 5, Camdenton, MO 65020 (573) 346-2090. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.hedgesscottmillard.com.
