Harry William Balkenhol of Broomall, PA, cherished husband and devoted family man, passed away on July 18, 2025 at the age of 73.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph T. and Sara (née McKernan) Balkenhol.
Harry is remembered as a kind and gentle soul with a sharp sense of humor. He loved to work and had the patience to learn to fix anything. He was the favorite person of every family pet over the years. His greatest pleasures were the simple things in life - spending time with family, tinkering in the garage and garden, long walks, and enjoying a sweet treat. He was always a phone call away to anyone in need of help.
Harry is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Frances (née Firmani) Balkenhol; his loving sons, Harry J. Balkenhol and Michael Balkenhol (Adam Brown), as well as his caring siblings, Katherine M. Balkenhol, and George Balkenhol (Julie). Harry is predeceased by his older brothers, Joseph T. Balkenhol, Jr., Thomas C. Balkenhol, and James P. Balkenhol. Harry is also survived by several brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to honor Harry’s life beginning with a Visitation on Monday, July 28, 2025, 10:00 am to 11:30 am at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2400 N. Providence Road, Media, PA 19063, followed by a Funeral Mass, 11:30 am. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Harry’s memory would be appreciated to Angel’s Retreat Dog Rescue, https://angelsretreat.org/.
