Mr. Harry D. Evans, affectionately known as "Tyshon", age 83, of Newark, Delaware passed away peacefully at home with family on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Trenton, New Jersey, a son of Shirley and Benjamin Mayfield; Harry spent his childhood in Englishtown (Pergolaville), New Jersey, where he attended the Englishtown public school system.

Before retiring, Harry enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a skilled carpenter in both residential and commercial construction. He took great pride not only in the quality of his craftsmanship but also in passing on his knowledge. Teaching his children the building trades was one of his greatest joys, instilling in them the values of hard work, discipline, and the artistry of his profession.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his children, Mavis Simmons and an infant son, Babyboy Hornsby; his siblings, Charles "Sonny" Evans, Benjamin Mayfield Jr., and Sandi Mayfield;
Harry leaves behind a powerful legacy of love and devotion through his twelve children and their spouses: Donta Bell, Tyshon Hornsby, Nashon Hornsby, Weshon Hornsby, Godday Hornsby, Arabia Hornsby, Baquasia Matthews, Laqua Wilson, Baru Hornsby, Zarah Wilson, Situra Hornsby, and Kazha Hornsby; a host of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; his six bonus children that he cherished as his own, Tihesha Wilson, Quaneka Wilson, Yajna Wilson, Kashif Daniels, Felecia Taylor, and Remar Sanders; his siblings: Shirley Tossie, Ester Carson, Paula Alexander, Carrie Bradshaw, Ann Mayfield, Joseph Mayfield, Danny Mayfield, John Mayfield, Lander Mayfield, Bobby Mayfield, Keith Mayfield, and Joseph Spearman; his nieces, nephews, and many beloved righteous brothers and sisters.
Harry is further survived by the mothers of his children: Linda Hornsby, Anna Wilson, Cheryl Cope, and the late Barbara Jean Bell.
