Harry Joseck Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by McDermott Funeral Home - Kennedy Township - Coraopolis on Jan. 8, 2026.
Harry C. Joseck, age 102, of Kennedy Township, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, surrounded by a lifetime of love and memories. Harry lived a remarkable life defined not only by service and hard work, but most of all by his devotion to family. He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores M. (Barr) Joseck.
Harry was a proud and loving father to Fred (Xanthy) Joseck, Jeff (Ruth) Joseck, Eric (Rita) Joseck, and Heidi (Francis) Montemurro. He was a cherished "Pappap" to Anastasia, Michael, John, Emily, Sarah, Hanna, Erika, Louis, Danielle, Marisa, and Olivia, and a Great Pappap to nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Joseck. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry D. and Marie E. (Weber) Joseck; his sister, Dorothy Petroni; his brother, Robert Joseck; and his beloved granddaughter, Laura Montemurro.
Nothing brought Harry greater joy than having his whole family together. Family gatherings were where he truly came alive, surrounded by laughter, stories, and the people he loved most. The annual summer trips to Deep Creek were especially dear to his heart. Those week-long vacations became treasured traditions, filled with time on the lake, shared meals, and nonstop activity. Harry delighted in getting right into the water with his grandchildren, fully embracing every game, swim, and moment of fun. He didn't just watch from the shore-he participated wholeheartedly, creating memories that his family will carry forever.
At 19 years old, Harry proudly enlisted in the United States Coast Guard during World War II, serving aboard the USS Marchand. His service took him across the Atlantic and beyond, an experience he carried with quiet pride throughout his life. After returning home, Harry built a successful career in engineering through dedication, perseverance, and a strong work ethic, eventually retiring after many years of leadership.
On September 4th, 1950, Harry married the love of his life, Dolores. After which they went on to have their four children, Fred, Jeffrey, Eric, and Heidi. They were married for 59 years, until Dolores passed away. His love for her remained, and talking about her continued to bring him happiness.
Harry never truly stopped serving others. He was deeply involved in the Boy Scouts for many years, guiding young people through outdoor adventures and life lessons, and later became a strong advocate for fellow retirees, helping protect pensions and benefits. He was known for his woodworking skills, his sense of humor, and his ability to bring joy to any gathering-often by leading an impromptu conga line.
Retirement did not slow him down. Harry began a second career as a driver for McDermott Funeral Home and later devoted himself to serving on the Shenango Retirees Board, where he played a key role in the legal fight to protect retirees' pensions and benefits.
Harry was an excellent woodworker, always ready with his hands and his heart. He also had a playful spirit and was famously known for being even better at leading a conga line-bringing smiles and laughter wherever he went.
Above all else, Harry will be remembered for his steady presence, his kind heart, and the love he gave so freely to his family. His legacy lives on in the stories shared, the traditions continued, and the deep bonds he helped create.
Relatives and friends will be received on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 1:00–5:00 PM at McDermott Funeral Home, 334 Forest Grove Road, Coraopolis (Kennedy Township). Funeral prayers will be held Monday, January 12, 2026, at 9:15 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Archangel Gabriel Parish, St. Malachy Church.
