Harry Killens Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fluker Funeral Home - Waycross on Mar. 8, 2025.
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." II Timothy 4:7-8
Bro. Harry Killens, Jr "Big Red" entered peacefully into his permanent home "A building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens" on Friday, March 7, 2025 at the sweet age of 74 surrounded by his loving family.
Harry Killens, Jr., began his life on the earth on February 14, 1951, born to the late Harry Killens, Sr. and Mary Barnar Howard.
Harry was a 1970 graduate of Waycross High School where he was an awesome defensive football player and an outstanding basketball player.
After graduating high school Harry began his working career with CSX transportation system in 1971 and continued to work at CSX until his retirement.
After meeting the love of his life, Kathy Taylor, they were joined in holy matrimony on March 7, 1972 and their union was blessed with three children.
He was a loving, caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports, cooking and barbecuing for his family, church, friends and classmates.
Harry accepted Christ as his person Savior and joined Power House of Faith Ministry under the leadership of Elder Kenneth Kirksey, where he worked diligently and faithfully serving as a trustworthy and high respected member in any capacity.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Killens and Randy Killens.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Kathy Killens, Waycross, GA; one son, Chad Killens (Yolanda) of Kennesaw, GA; two daughters: Tasha Killens Britton of Decatur, GA and Tasia Killens, Waycross, GA; four brothers: Ricky Howard and John Howard both of Waycross, GA, Floyd (Shirley) Howard of Powder Springs, GA and Willie Howard (Shenetta) of Macon, GA; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four aunts: Everlyn Smithson, Pearl Howard, Alice Orange and Lillie Hill all of Waycross, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
God saw the road was getting rough, the hills too hard to climb. He gently closed those loving eyes, and whispered, "Peace Be Thine.".
A viewing is planned for Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Fluker Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm in Waycross, GA. His funeral service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025, 11:00 AM, at Power House of Faith, 1608 R. L. McGee Dr., Waycross, GA 31501. Burial is to follow immediately in the Barnar Memorial Cemetery. Please continue to keep the family in prayer during this difficult time.
