Harry was born on February 11, 1954, to John and Margaret (Regier) Kliewer in Aurora, NE. Harry was baptized at the Henderson Bethesda Mennonite Church. He grew up in Stockham as the third of four siblings, attending Stockham Elementary School and graduating from Aurora High School in 1972. Harry's childhood was marked by adventures with his lifelong friends, exploring the town and uncovering the best fishing spots.
Harry developed a strong work ethic early in life, holding jobs at New Holland, Grosshans Lumber Company, and working with local farmers during his high school years.
In 1976, Harry met the love of his life, Margie Conant, on a blind date. They married on September 22, 1979, and made their home in Stockham, where they raised two sons, Nick and Luke. Faith was a cornerstone of their lives, as Harry and Margie were devoted members of the Stockham Community Bible Church for nearly 50 years. Together, they nurtured a family grounded in love and a deep belief in Jesus Christ.
Harry's professional life was as diverse as his passions. He worked as an over-the-road truck driver for King of the Road, braving treacherous winters in the mountains, and later transitioned to roles with Bonavilla in Aurora, local farmers, the Clay County Meat & Animal Research Center, and most recently, the Clay County Department of Roads-a position he had particularly enjoyed since 2013.
An avid outdoorsman, Harry loved hunting, fishing, and golfing. His favorite moments were spent by the water and in a deer blind, introducing his sons, grandchildren, and local kids to the joys of hunting and fishing. Known for his honesty, kindness, dependability, and ever-present smile, Harry was a friend to all and a stranger to none.
Harry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Margie Kliewer of Stockham, NE; sons, Nick (Kara) of Lawrence, NE; and Luke (Corina) of Oberlin, KS; grandchildren, Kaylin and Gage of Lawrence, NE; Kado of Hastings, NE; Misty, Job, Phoebe, and Shaffer of Oberlin, KS; and great-grandchild, Adonis of Hastings, NE; siblings, John (Sharon) Kliewer of Stockham, NE; Darlene (Emil) Kment of Chapman, NE; and Marjorie Strong of York, NE; brother-in-law, Don Conant of California; sisters-in-law, Jackie Tindall of Florida; Cindy (Glen) Becker of Harvard, NE; and Jodi (Randy) Schulte of Harvard, NE; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Kliewer; his in-laws, V.W. and Lorene Conant; brothers-in-law, Russell Graves; Ed Penner; Bill Strong; Ray Tindall and sister-in-law, Mariann Conant.
Harry will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his unwavering faith, boundless love, and the countless lives he touched.
