David H. Kliewer passed away on March 7, 2025, at 80 years old in Amarillo, Texas.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Golden Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount, Amarillo, Texas.
He was born to A.P. “Bert” and Edna N. (Harms) Kliewer on July 9, 1944. David attended high school at Grant County Rural High School in Ulysses, Kansas. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, then a master’s degree from Kansas State University. He was married Emma Jean Keaton for 61 years.
David was a farmer in Stanton County, Kansas. A teacher at the Ulysses Hugh School for 21 years. He taught for 1 year each at Tribune High School in Tribune, Kansas and Moscow High School.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Larry Kliewer.
He is survived by his wife Emma Jean Kliewer, his daughters: Shari Hammons and husband Troy, Mandie Maldonado and husband Anthony, and Rita Taylor and husband Mark. His son Sam Kliewer and wife Tina. Grandchildren: Takara Riedinger and husband Fred, TaiAnn Byrd and husband Sullivan, Jadon Maldonado, Hartley Maldonado, Mikayla Taylor, Cristianne Taylor, Zackary Kliewer, Benjamin Kliewer, and Allyson Kliewer, and four great-grandchildren. His sisters Carolyn Ashauser of Mesquite, Nevada, Connie Crowder and husband Dean of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Debbie Bates of Maryville, Tennessee.
