Richard Sandoval, 90 of Vega, Texas, gained his wings on October 9, 2025 in Amarillo Texas.

Amarillo viewing will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025 from 12 PM – 5 PM at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home located at 2800 Paramount Amarillo, Texas.

Vega viewing will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 12 PM – 5 PM at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home located at 107 S. Main St. Vega, Texas 79092.

Rosary will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025 at 6 PM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Vega, Texas located at 905 S. Main Vega, Texas 79092.

Celebration of his life will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Vega, Texas located at 905 S. Main Vega, Texas 79092 with Father Mitch as celebrant. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Vega, Texas.

Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, Texas.

Richard was born on August 24, 1935, in Mosquero, New Mexico, to Cipriano Sandoval and Tillie Gonzales. He married the love of his life, Maida Madrid, on June 2, 1962. Together they shared 52 wonderful years raising their 8 children and creating a lifetime of cherished memories. Richard took great pride in his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later worked as a Chef, known for his delicious sopapillas that he often shared with friends, family, and neighbors. He was also known for his hard work and dedication, whether it was scrapping metal or lending a helping hand to those in need. Richard’s kindness, humor, and generosity touched everyone who knew him. He especially loved telling stories. His laughter and tales could fill a room and bring everyone together.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maida, on August 16, 2014, son Tony Madrid, on December 2024 and siblings Robert, Herman, Frankie, Rose, Susie, and Mary.

Surviving siblings include brothers Benjamin, Cipriano (Jr.), and George; sisters Lucy, Patsy, Eva, Joani, and Maryann. Surviving daughters Donna Martinez, Molly Sandoval, Lupe Castillo, Stella Sandoval, Andrea Flores, Yvonne Zavala, and Laura Alvarez; his son Alex Sandoval; 26 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Richard will be remembered for his deep love for family, his giving spirit, and his ability to bring joy to those around him. His legacy of love, laughter, and storytelling will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will truly be missed.
