Harry "Bud" McClard Jr

Harry E. "Bud" McClard, Jr., aged 78, embarked on his final journey on November 24, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, service, and love. Born on December 26, 1946, in Sumter, SC, Bud lived a life filled with adventure, hard work, and commitment to community and family.

Bud's professional journey was as dynamic as his personal adventures. As a chemical engineer, he made substantial contributions working at Amherst Analytical in Massachusetts and Westinghouse in Atlanta. He later channeled his expertise and entrepreneurial spirit into founding Nubble Technologies in Raymond, NH. For two decades, Bud dedicated his skills as a contract inspector for FEMA, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to helping others in times of need.

Beyond his career, Bud was deeply passionate about his hobbies and interests. He found joy navigating the Intracoastal Waterway in his powerboat, and skiing the crisp slopes of New Hampshire. His love for the great outdoors was only matched by his dedication to his community.

Bud was an active member of St. James the Fisherman Church in Shallotte, NC, where he served as Treasurer and contributed to the church's vibrancy and mission. His leadership extended to his roles as a town commissioner for Carolina Shores, a member of the Architectural Review Committee for the HOA board, and an initiating member of the CERT emergency response team. Bud was also an esteemed member of the Oak Island Coast Guard Auxiliary, reflecting his lifelong commitment to service and safety.

Preceded in death by his parents and his beloved daughter, Charlayne, Bud leaves behind a family who cherished him dearly. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Carol and her son, Rob Turcotte; his daughter Susan (Charles) Darnell of Alabama; his son David (Jennifer) McClard of Willow Springs, NC; and his treasured grandchildren Nathan (wife Jenna), Emily, Samuel, and Jonathan. Bud will also be remembered fondly by his siblings Betty, Janet, James, Wayne, and Anthony.

A memorial service honoring Bud's life will be held on December 5, 2025 at 11 am at St. James the Fisherman Church, 4941 Main Street, Shallotte, NC. To honor Bud, donations may be made to the St. James the Fisherman's Fresh Face Forward fund, continuing Bud's legacy of community support and improvement. A luncheon will be held in the church's Bliss Hall following the funeral.

Bud's life was a testament to the impact one person can have through dedication to family, profession, and community. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit and contributions will continue to inspire all who knew him.
