Harry L. Sommers

Harry L. Sommers, 68, of Fremont, OH, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at his home.  He was born on August 4, 1955 in Sandusky, OH to LeRoy and Marjorie (Welchons) Sommers. 

 

Harry married Cynthia Thompson on October 30, 1976 in Fremont, OH.  He worked at Mike’s Auto Wrecking as a mechanic and a wrecking driver for forty years. Harry enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, riding his Harley and playing various games but above all he enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.  He loved sprint car dirt racing at the Fremont Speedway and Attica Raceway along with helping those in need of fixing their cars and assisting his grandson with his race car. 

 

Harry is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Cynthia Sommers; children, Micheal (Alicia) Sommers, Jennifer (Randall Jr) Frederick; grandchildren, LJ, Spencer, Morgan, Tyree, Jasmine, Xavier; great grandchildren, Nova, Elaina; siblings, Frank, Nancy, Sherel, Catherine, Glenda, Joyce; bonus grandchildren, Lily, Iris, Daisy and Violet. 

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, William and sister, Peggy.

 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.

 

A Service will take place Thursday, February 15, 2024, 11:00 am at the funeral home. 

 

Memorials can be made in Harry’s honor to the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame.
