Harry M. Wing Sr. was born on February 23, 1942, in Greenville, KY, to the late Archie Johnson and Geneva W. Drake. He peacefully entered his eternal home on March 7, 2025, in Mayfield, KY.
A passionate and ambitious man, Harry attended Muhlenberg County schools before moving to New York City to participate in the ROTC program. He later returned to Greenville, where he started a family and entered the coal mining industry in Sturgis, KY. A man of principle and strong morals, Harry enjoyed working with his hands, often repurposing and restoring things to make them new again. Quiet yet strong, he was a giant to those who knew and loved him.
Harry’s deep love and dedication to his family were evident throughout his life, especially in raising his beloved “Tadpole,” Shea Wing-Burton. He retired from a 30-year career in sanitation in 2020.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. He leaves behind his life partner and caregiver, Wanda Morris; eight children: Harry Wing Jr., Morris (Cordelia) Wing, Michael Wing, Sheldon Wing, Geneva Wing, Lorraine (Brentlee) Wing, James (Misty) Wing, and Jeddidiah (Stephanie) Randall; five stepchildren: Melody Peterson, Vanessa Gott, Rhenee Sanders, Damien Wing, and Kelly Shelston; thirty grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; seven siblings: Thurman, Jeanette, Molli Lue, Audrey, Ann, Sue, and Mary; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
