Harry Leland Yale, Jr., 69, of Midland, Michigan passed away August 21, 2023. Harry was born on November 28, 1953 in Highland Park, Michigan. His parents were Harry Leland Yale, Sr. and Mary Louise (McNeil) Swiercz. Harry was a graduate of Farmington High School and attended Delta Community College.
Harry served as a soldier in the U.S. Army stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He served as a turret mechanic during the Vietnam War receiving the National Service Medal as a Sharpshooter for the M16. He was very proud to have served his country.
Married to the love of his life, for 50 years, Susan Diane (Slusser) Yale on October 13, 1973, in Farmington, Michigan at Our Lady of Sorrows parish. They made their home for the greater part of his life in the Farmington Hills area of Michigan.
Employed for 35 years by Comau (formerly Pico) he also served as the President of their employee union. He was a Tool-maker Foreman building robotic assembly lines for the Big 3. His work took him to many different locations for field service including once to Egypt.
Spending his early years growing up in Gould City founded his love of the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, boating, and canamping (a family term for canoeing & camping). He shared a special love for Simmons Woods. He enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and you would often find he had snuck off with them for ice cream and M&Ms or watching cartoons. Harry was the "cool" grandpa; riding his Harley Davidson or his four-wheeler, and watching Godzilla movies.
Harry is survived by his wife Susan; daughters: Melissa (Michael) Allen of Derry, NH and Elizabeth (Rick) Haskell of Midland, MI; sister: Jillian (Steve) Byers; in addition to five granddaughters: Ashley, Kelsey, Riley, Megan, and Tierney; and three great-grandsons: Greyson, Theodore, and Casimir.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, step-parents, and sister Jacqueline Yale.
