Boone Funeral Home and Crematory - Bossier CityUnited since their marriage on April 20, 1951, Harvey P. Nelson and Delight Nelson departed within days of one another and together will share in eternity. Harvey left this world on Sept. 21st, and Delight followed on Sept. 27th.
Harvey‘s childhood was spent in Minnesota. He joined the Air Force on his 17th birthday. He later attended drafting school and transferred to Carswell AFB in Ft. Worth where he met and married Delight. His assignment was cartographer serving in roles within Reconnaissance Technical or Aero Chart and Information Center Squadrons. She joined him in all but one of his overseas assignments. Harvey retired from military service in 1973.
Delight lived in Texas most of her childhood and young adult life, she graduated from Christian University with a degree in chemistry, although she ultimately found her career in drafting for an engineering firm.
In retirement they found various hobbies, including rebuilding and working on cars, being active members of Ark-La-Tx The Bayou Birds, Thunderbird Club, genealogy, restoring old technology, and volunteering their talents in their community.
They will continue to be remembered by their family, friends, caring neighbors and caregivers for their long-lasting marriage and dedication to one another, their abundant long life, love for their cats, nutrition, politics, and their spirited conversations about topics they were passionate about. Their memory and stories live on in our hearts, may both of them rest in peace.
