Harvey Lee Cashwell, 87 of Rockingham, born on March 6, 1938, in Sampson County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, in Monroe, North Carolina. He lived a life rich in purpose and dedication, leaving a legacy that will endure through his family, friends, and the communities he served.
A loving father who took pride in nurturing the next generation, he is survived by his cherished daughters, Regina W. Taylor (Sammy), Rebecca D. Webb (Ray), and Marti C. Stutts (Tim). As a grandfather, he delighted in the presence of his grandchildren: Nicole Watkins (Alfonzo), Madison Wallace (Hunter Thomas), Melissa Ellis (Chris), Tommy Webb (Elizabeth), and Tim Stutts, Jr. (Amber), along with seventeen great-grandchildren who brought endless joy to his life. Harvey’s legacy also includes the memory of his late parents, Sidney Allen & Rebecca Thompson Cashwell, his late grandchildren, Matthew Benoist, and Candy B. Mundy, as well as several brothers and a sister who preceded him in death.
Harvey was a man of many talents and a deep commitment to his community. He was the former owner and operator of H & S Carpet and Floor Covering Sales and dedicated a significant portion of his life to cattle and hay farming. His service extended beyond his business pursuits; he was a pastor at several Independent Baptist Churches, with his last position being at the Little River Independent Baptist Church in Spring Lake, NC. Through his ministry, he touched countless lives, sharing his faith and spreading the gospel with warmth and compassion.
In his personal life, Harvey loved nothing more than spending quality time with family. His ability to connect with others was a hallmark of his character, and he was known for his gentle spirit and generous nature. Whether in the fields, the church, or at home, he forged lasting memories with those he held dear.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Carter Funeral Homes in Rockingham, NC, on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Richmond County Memorial Park in Rockingham, NC, honoring a man whose life was marked by dedication and love.
Harvey Lee Cashwell leaves behind a vibrant legacy enveloped in love, faith, and an unwavering commitment to family. He will undoubtedly be missed but fondly remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
