Harvey Edwin Hatfield

Harvey Edwin Hatfield, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 29, 2025, in Oxford, MS, after a lengthy illness. Born on December 19, 1945, in Harrisburg, AR, Harvey lived a life rich with love, laughter, and service, leaving behind countless memories that will forever warm the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Harvey dedicated his career to his work as a drywall finisher, a profession he embraced until his retirement in 2016. He was known not only for his skilled craftsmanship but also for his unwavering commitment to providing for his family. He approached work with the same determination and dedication that characterized his life, always striving to create a beautiful life for his loved ones.

His spirit shone brightly through his wonderful personality. Harvey was happy and funny, always joking around and sharing stories that brought joy to others. A man of deep faith, he was known as a godly, church-going individual who lived his life with intention and purpose. Family was his anchor, and he poured every ounce of his love into them. He was loyal, loving, and a hard worker, and he instilled in his family the values that guided him throughout his life.

Harvey bravely served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he drove vehicles for military personnel while serving in Vietnam. He was proud of his service to the country and carried that pride with him throughout his life. After returning from the war, he continued to embody the values of patriotism and service in all he did.

An outdoorsman at heart, Harvey had a passion for hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles. He relished every moment spent in nature, embracing the beauty of the world around him. His achievements included becoming a father, which he considered one of his proudest accomplishments, and winning trophies in his hunting club—a testament to his love for the great outdoors.

Harvey leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Brenda Barz Hatfield, and their loving daughters, Rachel Mayfield (Mike) and Molly Robertson (Wayne). He cherished his five grandchildren—Savanna, Jake, Mary, Belle, and Jacqueline—and took immense joy in his eight great-grandchildren, who were snippets of pure happiness to him. He is also survived by his brother, James Robbins, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom are grateful for the memories they shared with him.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Harvey Lawrence Hatfield and Mary Millie (Welch) Hatfield Robbins, his granddaughter, Sandi Mayfield, his brother, Allen Lawrence Hatfield, and his sister, Rose Mary Robbins Platt.

Harvey’s most precious treasure was his faith and the relationship he developed with the Lord, which he regarded as the most wonderful gift in his life. His laughter, stories, and love will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.

A visitation will be held on February 4, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church, located at 6001 Goodman Road, Walls, MS. A funeral service will follow from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, also at the church. Harvey will then be laid to rest at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Southaven, MS, where friends and family can bid their final farewells at 1:30 PM.
