Harvey Smith Martin, 93, passed away on March 14, 2025. He was born in Media, PA, currently of Wilmington, Delaware and formerly of Parkside, Pennsylvania. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Beynard and Elizabeth Martin, his wife Jean Angradi Martin, brothers Jack and Jimmy Martin, and sisters-in-law Elaine Angradi Bixby and Doris (Jack) Martin.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Jean (Jimmy) Martin and a niece and several nephews: Kathy Corely, Bruce Martin, David Martin, Brendan Martin, Anne Martin, Bill Bixby, David Bixby, and Kevin Bixby. Harvey is also survived by his Delaware friends, Bob and Averina Socash.
Harvey began working as a postal clerk with the US Post Office in Media after his graduation from Media High School. Harvey served in the United States Army during the Korean War and served in the Pennsylvania National Guard. After retiring from the Post Office, he along with his wife Jean devoted much time volunteering at Our Lady of Charity Church in Brookhaven. He was a man of great faith. Harvey loved the borough of Media and his friends from Media HS and spent countless hours posting online about their history. Harvey was a devoted fan of the Phillies and Eagles.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation (10:00-11:00 a.m.) and funeral mass (11:00 a.m.) at Our Lady of Charity Church, 231 Upland Road, Brookhaven, PA, on Thursday (March 20, 2025). Interment: SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 S. Sproul Road, Springfield, PA. Arrangements made by the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, Brookhaven, PA.
